Extended Clip For Glock 48 - Pin set screws are set with Loctite® to our recommended specific tension and usually do not require adjustment. Screw tightening the base plate is not recommended and may be difficult as the gasket is treated with Loctite®. Attempting to force the adjustment screw to turn may cause the screw to lift. We do not warrant base pads with de-headed adjustment screws or missing pins due to tampering with the set screw.

Not for sale to California residents. A courtesy email will be sent to CA residents who carry a base pad that can eject the magazine after ten rounds. A refund will be issued eventually. CA housing can only purchase +0 base pads or GLOCK 43 and GLOCK 42 bases. 43 and 42 base pads do not absorb mag capacity after ten rounds.

Taran Tactical Innovations +5 Basepad Shield Arms® for 15-round magazine (for GLOCK 48 and 43X use). This baseplate adds 5 extra rounds of 9mm to the magazine. This base plate adds a little extra weight to the magazine, which helps release the empty magazine easily for quick loading. This TTI GLOCK base pad, like all of our base pads, is designed to give you an edge over your opponents. We use a patented push button design to lock the base plate onto the magazine, allowing for easy removal and cleaning of magazines between stages. Simply push the pin down, slide the baseplate over the magazine and press the pin up to lock the baseplate into the magazine. Our one-piece design is great because no additional parts or tools are needed to attach the base plate to the magazine. The base pad itself is made from billet aluminum and is hard anodized to ensure a durable and long lasting finish. All processing and manufacturing operations are done in the USA.

Tyrant Designs is a manufacturer of high quality USA made CNC machined AR-15 and handgun upgrades and accessories. They recently sent me the Glock 43X and 48 +4 magazine extensions. When it comes to magazine extensions, the deciding factor on their quality or not often comes down to how well they work with the gun. In addition to this measurement, I will look at how they change the carry experience with regular capacity magazines.

My first impression of the magazine extensions can be summed up in one word - authenticity. As with previous machining, I can see the quality of the CNC machining used in these parts. Although the magazine extensions seem to have a lot of hard angles, they are based on a comfortable angle that prevents any kind of pinching or scratching when holding or handling.

The anodizing is done very well and resists general wear and scratches, but if you try hard enough, it will come off - it's by no means indestructible, but enough that it won't wear the finish with normal use.

I give these a 9/10 for looks - they look great paired with the original two-tone finish on the Glock 43X and Glock 48. The magazines sit with the dimensions of the container and extend only downwards, in this configuration they increase the total height of the pistol. I was expecting a slightly more unusual look with the other colors, but with the black and silver tyrant, they sent a very good looking device.

Strike Industries Enhanced Magazine Extension

This is the most annoying part of magazine extensions for Glock pistols. For most pistol magazines, all you have to do is press the button on the bottom of the magazine and slide the base plate off. With Glock magazines, there are two small tabs on the right and left side of the magazine housing that extend up to the base plate, which must be pressed in addition to the button below to move the spring base up.

There are tools to do this but I used channel locks to install the sides. Even with the channel locks it took a lot of force to overcome the slight pinching of the lock cycle and remove the original baseplates.

After removing the original base plates, it is easy to install the Tirant design extensions: move the followers from the old spring to the extension spring, insert the spring and follower, then cover it with the magazine extension.

The Dictator makes disassembly easy by pressing an empty case or other solid object firmly through a small latch on the back of the extension - no channel blocker required.

Glock 19 Co2 Non Blowback (nbb) 11 Round Magazine

The magazine's extensions work as advertised. I had a bit of a struggle loading them up to 14 rounds. With a little practice this is not a problem, but the final round definitely requires a lot of pressure to get there. With added pressure, the magazine can be loaded when the bolt is closed, but it will not be unloaded when pressed to capacity.

I did a couple of tests to see when the magazines would work with a normal gun action. The magazines are hard to put down when fully loaded and won't fall. However, it appears that the magazine can be loaded with up to 12 rounds and still come out of the gun. When there are more rounds, the magazine will want to jam well into the magazine. This seems to be a problem with Glock magazines, combined with the additional spring pressure that occurs where the lower part of the OEM Glock magazine is seated.

When pressed to capacity, the sides of the magazine curve enough to keep the magazine in the gun. This may be a problem for some, but I find it less of a problem since I don't see myself throwing fully loaded magazines. In normal use, the springs provided enough pressure both to properly feed the rifle and to lock the slide on the final round. When the magazine was empty, the magazines dropped as normal - maybe a little faster than the stock magazines because of the weight of the extensions.

One thing I noticed is that the pistol extensions prevent you from getting your hands on the base of the magwell and magazine when reloading. In general, I found that the logs are easier to handle with the added extensions.

Glock 43x / 48 Mag Release

The biggest disadvantage of magazine extensions is in the concealed compartment. When installed in a Glock 48, it adds nearly 2 inches to the overall height of the rifle. Usually, the most difficult thing to hide is the height of the gun as it goes with the natural oval shape of the waist. They are hidden under the normal shirts that I wear, they make the print very visible, which is not ideal.

TFBTV's James Reeves recently gave us a scientific review of the effectiveness of concealed carry guns. The performance indicator works as follows

Calculated by multiplying rounds per sq/in and rounds per ounce. This does not take into account the total length of the gun, but how effective it is. Light handguns with thin/short frames and high capacity will do well here. Higher scores are better.

The Glock 48 typically has an efficiency rating of .79 for a 10-round magazine capacity. With the extension of the magazine, the efficiency is reduced to 0.76, which is not a huge reduction. This puts the Glock 48 on par with rifles like the SIG Sauer P228, Glock 26 Gen 3, and SIG Sauer P320 Compact. The main factor that contributes to the decrease in results is the increased height.

Honestly, if I were to carry these magazine extensions, I think I would carry them in a pocket or magazine pouch; This also reduces the negative impact they have on concealment when loaded into the gun. Sure, you can screw up the efficiency by adding larger magazine extensions, but that ultimately defeats the purpose of a concealed carry gun – essentially cheating the system.

In my opinion, the Tyrant Designs +4 Magazine Extensions are a great addition to your Glock 43X or Glock 48 for everyday shooting or as a backup magazine extension. They don't add weight and provide extra grip for those with larger hands.

I wouldn't carry these as part of an EDC kit, but I would take them to the range and keep them at home. The method I use to carry
