vp 9 review

Vp 9 Review - I have been shooting competitively for several years. I didn't take it seriously and the number of meetings I attended is still in the single digits. In all of those competitions, I shot most of my stock with the third generation Glock 19. The gun is a workhorse, but it is by no means aimed at competitive shooters. I've always wanted to get my hands on a gun, with a competitive outlet in mind. I've seen people use secret weapons worth more than my car. That was clearly not for me. So what are my options? Not much Heckler & Koch isn't exactly known for cheap guns, but that changes with the VP9. Now, in a competition-focused design, the H&K VP9 Match gives shooters like me the option for the race rifle we've always wanted, without the need for a second mortgage.

Opening the hard case that the VP9 Match came in made me feel like I had just been accepted into a super club. The format was detailed and the added components expanded. The gun's sharp, brassy lines soon became apparent. On the side of the gun were four magazines, a loading magazine and a pair of spare grips.

Most pistols today have interchangeable backs. This comes with back straps and side panels to match. One thing that I honestly thought was kind of dumb, it was a feature I wish I had on all my guns. Behind the rear speakers are the earcups. They're barely noticeable and unnecessary, but like your car's security camera, you don't know how much you'll use it until you don't have it.

There are slide decks on the front and back of the page. They are deep and give you a good buy. The image is ready to focus and uses a disc system. Something that really piqued my interest was the o-ring. At the end of the 5.51" barrel is a forestay ring (additional items are included in the box), the purpose of which is to improve the lockup "for more accuracy and consistency." I'm not sure I have the ability to tell the difference, but I'm curious anyway.

I understand the importance of looking at scientific accuracy, but that's just not me. I don't mind if they all go through the same hole. As long as the rounds go where I want them to go and finish to the exact level I need now, I'm happy. To my surprise, my first lap (seen above) went exactly where I wanted it to. Using the iron, I decided to shoot quick bursts. This is the first one. This is 10 rounds.

These are shot 15 meters, quickly and with little effort. He was getting the gun back to where I needed it and putting the money right. This is literally the most accurate I have ever been without spending time on a gun.

A big part of it was the stimulus. The generator face is comfortable in my neutral hands. There is more lift than I expected, but once you get to the wall, the rest is rough. It's not a stiff glass stick, but it feels like breaking very dry breadcrumbs. For those who don't get my point, that's a compliment. Reset moves your finger forward, adjusting where you need to be to track.

The word "Match" is literally the name of the gun. There was no way I could do this review without getting into the VP9 Match at some point. The fastest I could get in was a local IDPA match at DCF Guns in Castle Rock, Colorado. No, none of my devices were IDPA compliant, but that wasn't the point. I wanted to see how the gun performed when I pressed the gas pedal. By the way, my gas pedal has 18 feet of lift, but I wanted to push them as best as I and the gun could.

So what did I run? While I think custom accessories for your gun are always the way to go, I can't afford a new accessory for every gun I review. I did the VP9 Match on the Blackhawk Omnivore. On the gun, I had a Streamlight TLR-1 HL to integrate the holster. On top, I installed the Shield Sights RMS2 red dot. I have very little red dot experience, but what better time to learn than mid-game? I used a Tactical Raptor belt and some hand max carriers from AttackPAK. Ammunition was 124-grain Federal American Eagle FMJ.

The night consisted of four stages: Backyard Massacre, Bill Paying Skills, The Wrong Way and Holding the Ransom.

Aside from a bit of trouble finding my point, the VP9 Match was spot on. I shot faster than I normally do and had no problem keeping the rounds within inches of each other. This was also true when shooting my prop.

As I don't like to make things easy, I had a very strict plan for the Wrong Way stage. It fired an extra round and two shots at a distant target, forcing a reset while moving.

This was the first time I realized the gun was not reloaded with a blank. That threw me off a bit. I should have trusted my account, but instead I panicked and decided to post the compensation to avoid a possible penalty. It took me a long time, I was still trying to place the cover while I was in the firing line.

In the last phase only two targets who were swimmers came out. I was sweating this but in the end it turned out to be a lot harder than I expected. The weight and ergo of the VP9 Match delivered the RMS2 point directly, the head no problem.

There is a lot to like about this gun. The gun is incredibly accurate. The overall feel, ergonomics, and amazing trigger allowed me to really see what the gun was capable of. The controls are basic, but difficult to navigate. The magazines are easy to load and hold plenty of ammo for whatever you're trying to do.

I really have one gripe about VP9 Match. Many of us have problems because of the handle we use to slide our locks. On most guns, the forehand thumb is the culprit. However, in the VP9 game, stopping the slide is too far. In this case, the strong side thumb prevents the slide from binding. No matter how I change the support handle, I still have this problem.

The release of the magazine is good. If it works For a rifle intended for the competition market, I think I would like a longer factory release.

On the other hand I think this gun is beautiful to look at. This is the last thing in this review because it's the smallest thing. However, I think it's important to like the look of your gun. Like your car, its main purpose is utility, but it's good to be proud of your machine. Honestly, I felt great with this gun on my hip. I got a lot of questions about it, and it opened up conversations with strangers that I had the chance to talk to all night.

The price to performance ratio is greatly improved by shooters. This is a great gun for those looking for a starter racing gun. That said, I think it will end up being your favorite gun for racing for a long time. Check out the Heckler & Koch website for all VP9 models. Starting with a childhood love of World War II history, Nic's interest in firearms grew as his maturity level declined. He has competed in USPSA, IDPA and pistol competitions, and has an unnatural love for Rosie, a Gen3 Glock 19. Before releasing the first VP9 in 2014, Heckler & Koch worked on the design for four more years. Although they haven't been in the shotgun game for long, H&K aren't new to the concept either, having pioneered the VP70 and P7 models over three decades ago. Released in 1970 and 1979 respectively, these early striker-fired rifles were unusual at the time, as striker-fired performance did not see widespread acceptance until years later. The VP70 was notable for being the first polymer pistol in production, predating the first Glock by more than a decade. both
