JTA - U.S. Representative Lauren Boebert is aligned with Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene on many points. Both are right-wing Republican congressmen who fervently embrace conspiracy theories and joined forces with unlikely US President Joe Biden during his State of the Union address.

But when Boebert wanted to distance herself from Greene over their endorsement of the next House speaker, she pulled out an old chestnut: "Jewish space lasers."

"I don't believe this," Boebert, who represents a Colorado district, told conservative media personality Charlie Kirk Monday at his PAC conference in Phoenix, referring to Greene's support of Republican stalwart Kevin McCarthy for House speaker. "Just like I don't believe in Russian space lasers, Jewish space lasers, things like that."

The phrase, which is a clear image of Greene, has haunted her since she became known in 2018 that she had posted Facebook accounts suggesting that a company owned by the Rothschilds, the wealthy Jewish banking family, had started a wildfire in California from inside the room. had lit. . While the Geogia congresswoman has insisted she never uttered those exact words, her Rothschild remark was just one of her many brushstrokes with anti-Semitism, which also included embracing the QAnon conspiracy theory and comparing Biden to Hitler. Her beliefs have drawn derision from figures on both sides of the aisle, as well as widespread condemnation from the Jewish community.

Boebert, who was reelected last month by just a few hundred votes, dabbles in his own share of conspiracy theories and inflammatory language with anti-Semitic overtones. Last year, she brought a group of Jewish visitors to the Capitol and compared America's vaccination efforts to those of Nazi Germany — a move that should have endeared her to Greene, who did the same. But Boebert does not support McCarthy's bid as speaker and wanted to chide Greene for breaking away from a caucus of like-minded rightists demanding a new face at the top.

In response, Greene hit back at his Colorado counterpart. Boebert "childishly threw me under the bus for a cheap soundbite," Greene tweeted Monday, referring to the film as "high school drama." (Greene accompanied this statement with a snippet of Boebert's comment about "Jewish space lasers," leaving no doubt as to what had outraged her.)

Congressional Candidate's Apparent Ascent To Congress Could Be A \

The two also disagreed over Greene's embrace of white nationalist groups, with Boebert falling out with his colleague earlier this year over Greene's performance at an event hosted by prominent anti-Semite Nick Fuentes. Another Republican congressman, Paul Gosar, also appeared at the Fuentes event.

Marjorie Taylor Greene Calls Nancy Mace 'trash In The Gop' In Heated Twitter Exchange

ATLANTA (AP) — Marjorie Taylor Greene, a businesswoman who has voiced her support for the far-right conspiracy theory QAnon and has been criticized for a string of racial slurs, has won the Republican nomination for Georgia's 14th congressional district.

Greene defeated neurosurgeon John Cowan in a primary runoff for the open seat Tuesday in Georgia's deep red district, despite several GOP officials condemning her campaign after videos surfaced of her expressing racist, anti-Semitic and anti-Muslim views.

"WE WON! Thanks for your support! Save America. Stop socialism," Greene tweeted late Tuesday. A video posted to her Twitter account of her victory celebration showed a room full of supporters huddled together. Few wore face masks, if any. for protection against the coronavirus.

In a social media victory speech, Greene said she decided to get into politics because the country is going in the wrong direction.

The Problem Of Marjorie Taylor Greene

"So the Republican establishment was against me. The D.C. swamp was against me. And the lying fake news media hates my guts. Yeah, it's a badge of honor."

She has amassed tens of thousands of followers on social media, where she often posts videos of herself speaking directly to the camera. Those videos helped boost her popularity with her grassroots while at the same time drawing strong condemnation from some future colleagues in Congress.

In a series of videos discovered just after Greene won first place in the June 9 Republican primary, she laments an "Islamic invasion" of government offices, claims black and Hispanic men are held back by "gangs and drug trafficking." an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory that billionaire philanthropist George Soros, who is Jewish, collaborated with the Nazis.

Several high-profile Republicans then spoke out against her. House Minority Whip Steve Scalise of Louisiana quickly threw his support behind Cowan, while Rep. Georgia's Jody Hice has withdrawn an endorsement from Greene.

Should Democratic Primary Voters Help Save The G.o.p. From Itself?

Greene is also part of a growing list of candidates who have expressed support for QAnon, the far-right American conspiracy theory popular among some supporters of President Donald Trump. Lauren Boebert, another candidate who has expressed support for QAnon, recently upset a five-term congressman in a Colorado Republican primary.

Greene has positioned himself as a staunch supporter of Trump, emphasizing a strong pro-gun, pro-border wall and anti-abortion message. She has also connected with voters by making an intensive effort to travel around the district and meet people locally.

Larry Silker, a 72-year-old retiree, cast a vote for Greene last week at an early voting location in Dallas, Georgia.

“She seems to be a go-getter, you know. She's out to see everyone as she can, and I like that," Silker said.

Pelosi: Gop Reps. Boebert, Greene 'should Just Shut Up'

Asked if he had seen any criticism of Greene's comments, Silker said, "Well, you know, you see it. But do you believe it? You just have to weigh it up."

Voter Pamela Reardon said she supports Greene because she connects with people and is anti-abortion, a defender of the Second Amendment, and "a true Christian."

"I stood behind her for her honesty," she said. "She doesn't want to be bought by anyone. I could tell her heart was pure."

Reardon is aware of criticism of Greene's social media posts and videos, but says "she's never said anything as racist as they say", blaming attacks from her opponent's campaign.

The district stretches from the edge of metropolitan Atlanta to the largely rural northwestern corner of the state.

Greene will run against Democrat Kevin Van Ausdal in November. Van Ausdal acknowledged in an interview Tuesday evening that he faces an uphill battle in the heavily conservative district and urged people across the country to rally behind his campaign.

“We need donors to spread the word and show people that there is an alternative and a good alternative to QAnon conspiracies and divisive rhetoric,” he said.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had harsh words for two of the far right members of her chamber on Thursday following their outburst during President Joe Biden's State of the Union address.
